How to talk to an AI girlfriend (and which apps let you)

"Talk" means two different things in this category. On most apps it means typing messages to a character who types back. On a handful it means speaking out loud and hearing her answer. This guide covers both, starting with the question most people really have: which apps let me actually talk to her?

Apps that let you speak and hear her

How to have a good first conversation

Give her a starting point. A name, a setting and one detail about you ("I just moved to a new city") gives the AI something to build on.
Ask open questions. "What would you do if we had a free Saturday?" goes further than "hi".
Correct her early. If a detail is wrong, say so. Apps with long-term memory keep the correction.

Try voice after text. A call feels more natural once she already knows a few things about you.

Text or voice?

Text is better for long roleplay and for reading back what happened. Voice is better for presence: hearing her react in the moment is what makes a companion feel less like a chatbot.
